Documentation and Construction
SUMMARY:
Although these are not that useful for students there are a
lot of amazing options that will change professional practice as we know it. For project documentation and construction
workflows, OpenSpace is the most valuable tool because it automates site
capture with 360° imagery, creating reliable visual records for coordination
and progress tracking. VisualARQ is strong when embedded BIM is needed directly
inside Rhino, allowing flexible architectural documentation without switching platforms.
Asana works well for organizing tasks and team communication but is not a design
or documentation tool. SmartDraw is acceptable for quick diagrams but lacks the
precision required for architectural work. Finch is great for early massing and
generative studies, not for construction documentation. Canvas excels at quick
on-site scans but shouldn’t replace full BIM authoring tools.
